Pow Pow Pow...You're Dead!

If I didn't know me, I'd look at this picture and think I saw three experienced skiier/snowboarders on yet another routine trip down the gondola. They live in Colorado so they probably do this all the time...in fact that guy in the orange appears to be growing bored with the whole thing.

However, since I DO know me...I know that that little girl on the end there is rather out of place.

This was the day of my first snowboarding experience. Gary set me up right: new ski jacket, ski pants, gloves, quality board and boots rental, and a full day lesson; everything one could reasonably need for a successful first day. Unfortunately, he couldn't provide the few things I needed the most: coordination, balance, athleticism.

After a day of falling on my hands, my knees, my butt, my back, and a few good knocks to the back of the head, I decided I was done for the weekend. I'm not saying I've officially retired from boarding...because I'm pretty sure in order to "retire", you need to have actually stood up on a board for more than ten seconds.

On the other hand, my career in getting hot stone massages is looking very promising.

Cell Phones...Who Needs 'Em?

Who needs 'em, Gary? We do.

Last night we had a lovely little Office watching party over at a friend's apartment. Chocolate Chip Break 'n' Bake cookies, a mug of hot chocolate, Jim, Pam, and Dwight...doesn't get much better than that.

To make matters even MORE spectacular, it snowed this morning!!!
As I was reveling in the splendor of this wondrous chain of events...things took a bit of a wrong turn.

As it turns out, we had so much fun last night that Gary forgot to grab his cell phone before we left the apartment. No big deal, he thought, I'll just swing by and pick it up tomorrow on my way out to Denver.

So I got a call from our friend at about 8:45 asking whether or not Gary was going to stop by to get his phone, as our friend was about to have to leave for work. Since we don't have a house phone, I had no way of getting ahold of Gary to tell him that our friend was just going to go ahead and leave, so he should NOT go to the apartment on his way out.

Then, the good folks at KLite 106.3 told me that traffic on I-25 is TERRIBLE all the way out to Denver on account of the snow.

Yet again, I can't get ahold of Gary for lack of a house OR cell phone, so for all I know, he's either still trying to make that 2-hour trek to Denver, or he's involved in one of the 5 or 6 pileups I'm hearing about on the radio.

To top it all off, I left my wedding ring at home today so my finger is naked.

OOH and this just in: my mom is emailing me about how delicious her lunch was today at Taco Delite, the reason for my existence, while I'm stuck a thousand miles away with no edible Mexican food in sight.

AND NOW IT'S STOPPED SNOWING.

Office, in your infinite wisdom how could you do this?
